Introduction
End 2019, nearly 10 GW (or 52,211 GWh) of power generation capac-ity were installed (Hydro: 8GW, coal-based: 1.9 GW, solar: less than 0.1GW). As per the Laos Power Development Plan, the country’s hy-dropower capacity is expected to reach over 14 GW by 2025 while coal-based power capacity would increase to 2.5 GW. The total gener-ation is expected to be around 82,733 GWh by 2025.
